Weighing in at up to a kilogram, turnips make it easy to add bulk and peppery flavour to a dish. They come in two varieties; early and maincrop. Those harvested early are more diverse; good for braising, roasting and eating raw while maincrops are best boiled and mashed with plenty of butter and seasoning. Turnip leaves meanwhile, have an interesting mustard taste; save them for your next salad.
