Dubbed “the most delicious fruit known to men” by Mark Twain, the flavour of the cherimoya has been characterised as a blend of banana, pineapple, papaya, peach and strawberry. Shaped like a globe artichoke with a bumpy green skin and black seeds, it is also known as custard apple due to the creamy texture of the flesh. Discard the seeds and eat raw, in fruit salads, ice creams or by itself to savour the flavour.
